IGAC SSC member
email: mc.facchini (at) isac.cnr.it

Maria Cristina Facchini holds a Doctoral degree in Chemistry (1985) from the University of Bologna and is presently Senior Scientist at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate - Italian National Research Council (ISAC-CNR), Bologna.
She has been working in the field of physical and chemical processes in multiphase atmospheric systems (aerosols and clouds) for over 20 years. Her scientific expertise is the effect of changes in atmospheric composition on global change and climate. Her recent specific field of research has been the organic composition of aerosol particles, the related physical properties and the interaction with atmospheric water.
Dr. Facchini is presently a member of several steering groups of EU Projects, Member of the International Committee on Nucleation and Atmospheric Aerosols (ICNAA) and Chair of the Theme "Sources, Sinks and Impact of Atmospheric Aerosols" - Goldschmidt Conference 2009. She has published more than 90 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has given more than 150 presentations at international conferences.
