Allen Goldstein, University of California, Berkeley, California, USA
IGAC SSC member
email: ahg (at) nature.berkeley.edu

Allen Goldstein has been at UC Berkeley since 1996 as Professor of Biogeochemistry and currently serves as Chair in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy, and Management. In 2008 he was jointly appointed to the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He also serves as a core member of the Berkeley Atmospheric Science Center, and a Faculty Chemist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Goldstein's research addresses the biogeochemistry of greenhouse gases, ozone, aerosols, and their precursors, with a focus on understanding the natural versus human induced changes to earth's atmosphere and climate system. His research group develops novel instrumentation for in-situ observations of organic gases and aerosols, and of biosphere-atmopshere fluxes of reactive trace gases. They perform measurements in urban, agricultural, forested, and remote environments, and controlled laboratory experiments, and collaborate in the use of models and remote sensing data to investigate atmospheric chemistry and climate interactions. Goldstein received his PhD in Chemistry from Harvard University in 1994.
