Professor Jayaraman is based at the Space and Atmospheric Sciences Division, Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, India and is a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences. He served as one of the Lead Authors of the IPCC Third Assessment Report and a Member of the Radiation Commission of the IUGG for two terms. Currently he is a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee, National Atmospheric Research Laboratory, Gadanki and the Centre for Astroparticle Physics & Space Science, Bose Institute, Kolkata. Prof. Jayaraman is a convenor of the Core Team for Indian Satellite for Aerosols and Gases (I-STAG), a member of the Expert Panel for Fast Track Scheme for Young Scientists in Earth & Atmospheric Sciences, Dept. of Science & Technology, of the Government of India. His research interests are focused on the characterisation of natural and anthropogenic aerosols through different observational means, including rocket, balloon and air-borne instrumentations and the study of aerosol radiative forcing.
