The activities of IGAC are conducted through three Core Project offices (Seattle, Washington, USA and Bologna, Italy) under the guidance of a Scientific Steering Committee and IGAC's parent organizations: the International Geosphere Biosphere Programme (IGBP) and the Commission on Atmospheric Chemistry and Global Pollution (CACGP).

Scientific Steering Committee (SSC)

The SSC is responsible for the overall guidance of IGAC. It determines the Activities to be carried out and sets priorities among them. In doing so, the SSC makes every effort to foster excellence in science, to enhance international collaboration in implementing IGAC research, and to promote capacity building in atmospheric chemistry and environmental science worldwide. The IGAC SSC is co-chaired by Kathy Law and Tong Zhu.

The SSC consists of 19 members appointed jointly by IGAC's sponsoring organizations (IGBP and the Commission on Atmospheric Chemistry and Global Pollution (CACGP) of the International Association of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS)) to insure that the membership includes scientific expertise in relevant aspects of atmospheric chemistry and biosphere-atmosphere interactions. Each of four other supporting IAMAS commissions, as well as the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry's (IUPAC) Commission on Atmospheric Chemistry, and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) - may designate one liaison member. In addition, we have liaisons from other closely-related IGBP core projects (Surface Ocean Lower Atmosphere Study, SOLAS; and Integrated Land Ecosystem-Atmosphere Process Study, iLEAPS) as well as from the World Climate Research Program's SPARC (Stratospheric Processes and their Role in Climate) program. Members normally serve a term of three years and will normally serve on the committee for a maximum of six years. The current membership of the SSC (click on name for bio-sketch) is:
